AIR HANDLING UNITS/ ENERGY RECOVERY UNITS
Air Handling Unit Table showing the various locations of the different air handlers that provide airflow to the tower. There are multiple AHU-1 units that serve each of the office floors. AHU 2-4 serve the lobbies of the tower and are located in the basement. MUA-1 is located on the upper roof of the tower and serves the residential floors. ERU-1 and 2 provide cooling/ heating to the air that is going to and from the AHU-1 units on the office floors.
CHILLERS/ COOLING TOWERS
The Chillers and Cooling Towers in the building provide cold water to the air handling units, coils, and water sources. The Chillers are located in the penthouse and mechanical room and serve both the residential and office portions of the tower. Cooling tower CT-1 provides cooling for the office spaces and all four of the cooling towers provide cooling to the residential levels.
BOILERS
The Boilers are located in the penthouse of the tower and provide heating and hot water to the entire building.
HEAT EXCHANGERS
Heat Exchangers 1 and 2 provide either heating or cooling (depending on the season) to the residences and HX-3 & 4 serve the office spaces. All heat exchangers are Plate and Frame type.
SPLIT SYSTEM UNITS
The Split Systems units serve the performance critical areas of the building such as the elevator machine room and security/ IT offices. This is important because in the event of an emergency these spaces need to maintain a workable environment and that service can only be insured by standalone split systems.
UNIT HEATERS
The Unit Heaters and Cabinet Unit Heaters are located in various ducts throughout the building. They provide heating to the air before it enters the space that it is serving.
VARIABLE AIR VOLUME BOXES
The VAV boxes are exclusive to the office area and the residential lobby. They are only required in these spaces because not only do they have higher loads, but they have needs for occupied and occupied settings that may only be achieved with variable air volume being introduced to the spaces.
